I recently attended The Health Management Academy’s CNO Forum in West Palm Beach, and I have to say, it was an amazing experience. It was inspiring to hear nurse leaders from all different types of organizations, locations, and specialty areas come together to collaborate and share their insights.
One of my favorite sessions was a fireside chat with Shannon Bahrke, a 2-time Olympic medalist. Her message about persistence and perseverance really resonated with me, and it was so cool to hold her silver Olympic medal! (It’s a lot heavier than you think)
Another session that stuck out to me was about how hospital systems can support multigenerational nursing and the unique needs of each generation, from coaching for older nurses to a la carte benefits for newer nurses.
We also discussed the introduction of "virtual nurses" and the technology that supports them. One health system shared their successful implementation of this care model, and it was inspiring to see how much information was being shared between nurse leaders and how open they were to feedback to improve the outcome of this new technology. Overall, The Health Management Academy, put together a wonderful forum that not only allowed us to catch up with the latest trends, but also provided an opportunity for networking. I left the forum feeling inspired and grateful to be a part of such a dedicated and passionate community of nurse leaders.
